PROLOGUE

He might keep you happy for now, or forever. But bear this in mind; no one in this whole wide world would be willing to give you everything.

I did.

"I know I deserve better, but you were betterment. Too late now."

I ramble these words every day to myself, but to no avail. Her face is what motivates me to wake

up, to try and live another day with hopes of her coming back.

"Not again with this," I tell myself.

I have what any 'normal' kid would want: good grades, a loving family, and friends to make me

party hard all night. But when the lights go out, and I'm left alone with my dark thoughts, she's all I can think about. To die knowing she's not mine is still tolerable, but to die without knowing why it is so, is what is eating me up.

"Not again", I tell myself. I try to indulge myself in whatever is going on in front of me and I hear them say, "Here comes the man". They all greeted me, at which point I put up the fake smile that

I have mastered considerably well over these years, and carry on the rest of the day without a thought of her. I reach home tired and ready to sleep, but the moment I turn off the lights, my mind traces back to that day.The day that the walls came up. The day I shut shop.

"Not again," I say for the hundredth time that day, only to give in to the inevitable. Only to find myself trapped in the vicious circle of your love. Only to tell myself, "not again". Only to say it'll be alright. Lying to yourself is worse, because you convince yourself of those lies and start lining them up brick by brick, laying lie upon lie. And every tear you shed, acts as a catalyst, the cement, constructing the wall higher and higher until it goes out of bounds, away from sight, and out of my reach, her reach, anybody's reach.

The sandcastles near the sea will burn, and so will the memories. The cracks will fill, and so will your wounds.
