Review: Gonpachi Ramen, Ramen below $10
Where would one find ramen at an affordable price?
Located at a quaint neighbourhood in Kovan, Gonpachi Ramen is no doubt one of the hidden gems that all ramen lovers should know about.

Most ramen lovers would know that their favourite meal would burn a hole in their pockets. However, at Gonpachi, most ramen are priced at $7.80 per bowl. As compared to other ramen places where their ramen could cost up to $20 per bowl!
Despite being affordable, Gonpachi Ramen does not lose out in taste as compared to any other ramen. Their broth was not as rich as compared to the usual tonkotsu (pork bone broth) ramen. However, it was still flavourful and creamy, bringing all the ingredients into a harmonious union in one’s mouth.

The Seven Wonder Ramen at Gonpachi Ramen comprises of seven types of toppings, a juicy prawn, a seasoned half boiled egg, bamboo shoots, minced meat, corn, black fungus, and a green chilli sauce. Although each and every one of the ingredients are cooked the same way, they still retain their original flavour. The corn was sweet and crunchy. The seasoned half boiled egg was cooked to perfection, the yolk was still runny while the whites was cooked. Each and every one of the ingredients added a different flavour to the ramen.
The star of the show was definitely the noodles. Chewy and springy noodles that absorbed the flavours of the soup, the noodles definitely makes one feel full after a single bowl. The green chilli sauce added to the flavour of the ramen giving it a spicy kick.
24-year-old, Alison Tay found that the Gonpachi Ramen was different than other ramen. This is because of their green chilli sauce, which is a Thai recipe. The green chilli sauce is handmade by the staffs daily.

VERDICT
Overall, the restaurant had a homey atmosphere instead of one at a for profit shop. The staffs were really friendly and welcoming. Always ready to suggest dishes for those who are indecisive about what to eat. The ramen is definitely good value for money, definitely recommended for ramen lovers on a budget.
