Despite living in a tropical climate country, majority of Singaporeans venture out to forge new memories with every new season. If you have yet to bask in the chilly atmosphere, fret not as winter is fast approaching and embark on a new adventure!

The “Ice City” located in China boasts of hosting one of the largest snow and ice festivals such as The Harbin International Ice Festival. Based on the theme given each year, it features approximately 1500 gigantic ice structures. Other winter experiences can be enjoyed here too ranging from winter sports like skiing and snow-boarding to romantic sleigh rides and viewing of Siberian tigers.

If you are one who prefers simplicity, the “Winter Wonderland” in Hokkaido, Japan is a must. It features a picturesque canal adorn with Victorian-style gas lamps, housing merchants in the past and currently offers eateries and short cruises. The Otaru Canal holds the “Snow Light Festival",

an event where locals place floating candles inside the canal, distributing 15,000 snow candles and lanterns to light the pathways at night while both tourists and locals enjoy the floating candles flying through the night.

Perhaps you are one of those wanting to take a short trip out of civilization to enjoy the nature retreat. Head on down to Shimla, India and take a cable-car ride while capturing the mountain scenery with wild monkeys roaming around freely overlooking the tourists down below.
