‘About Time (2013)’ is a romance comedy movie about a man who finds out that he has an ability of travelling through time, and he meets a beautiful lady. He encounters some problems and confusions. In the end, it tells you how life is precious in every second, every day, and you should live it thankfully without regret.
This movie is not just a typical love story. It gives you great life lessons, showing the importance of family, and how you should deal with any kinds of problems like relationships, career, and most of all, life. This movie is directed by Richard Curtis, famous director and scriptwriter for the movies like ‘Love Actually (2003)’, ‘Notting Hill (1999). While these movies concentrate on two people’s relationship, ‘About Time (2013)’ focuses on one man thriving his life, facing challenges by having a special ability. It might not be realistic, but the director managed to make the movie seem very realistic.

‘Sing Street (2016)’ is a music film written and directed by John Carney. The movie is set on the 1980s’ Ireland, where group of students form a band in order to become famous and be outstanding in school. However, they face some challenges at their homes and schools, due to the economic status of Ireland in that era.
This movie teaches you that no matter what challenges you have, just keep going and you will find the answer. Even though you think things that you are dreaming of are impossible, it might become true if you try hard, like this band, Sing Street. The soundtrack of this movie is also amazing, which follows the 80s song concept.
3. Whiplash (2014)
‘Whiplash (2014)’ is a movie directed by Damien Chazelle, the director known for the musical movie ‘La La Land (2016)’. The story is simple and straight. An aspiring drummer striving with a very strict instructor, in order to win the competition and find the rhythm that suits him.
This movie is very tense and makes you feel like watching a horror movie, due to amazing acting of J.K. Simmons and Miles Teller. With the drum beating all the way until the end of the movie.
J.K. Simmons was awarded as the best actor in a supporting role from the Academy Awards in 2015. You can see the best directing skills with good camera works and amazing acts done by two actors. This movie teaches you about the limit of ourselves, if we reach this limit, how people will react. And a mentor who has great leadership skills.
4. Okja (2017)
‘Okja (2017)’ is a movie directed by the acclaimed Korean director, Joon-ho Bong. The movie is about a girl named ‘Mija’ conflicting with a company who took ‘Okja’, a Super Pig that Mija has been with since birth.
The story is very dynamic, with a fast pace sequence and story-telling. The movie does not just talk about animal protection. It talks about how cruel human can be towards other humans, and how selfish they are, if they are tempted to many things.
5. Still Alice (2015)
‘Still Alice (2015)’ is a movie starring Julianne Moore, acting as a woman who is diagnosed Alzheimer’s Disease in a young age. She tries to accept the fact, but the symptoms become worse. The family tries to help her, with having a lot of problems.
The movie teaches you how one family can be ruined if one part of the family starts to have a serious problem like health, mental, and life. This movie will inspire you how to accept life as it is, and live with the flow. Julianne Moore received best actress in a leading role in the Academy Awards on 2015. She acted as a perfect Alzheimer’s Disease patient.
If you watch all these movies, you will be able to empathise and realise that you can learn many things that will relate to you somehow, even though you are not in the same situation as the character in the movie. Other than these movies, there are many inspiring movies out in the public.
