2018 has been great and all, but have you thought of what you wanted to do? Like how about those lyrics you’ve written 6 months ago that you left in your basement? Or that style of music you’ve always wanted to learn but haven’t got the time yet.

In Search Match Catch, we believe that we make time by planning it ahead. Therefore, here’s 4 Unique New Year Resolutions -- For Musicians!

1. Get your EP/Album Published

At a glance this seems to be the most daunting task. Common question would probably be “Am I good enough to publish my work to the world?” or it could even be vice versa like “Is the world ready for my music?”

The answer is simple: It will never be ready if you never try.

So get those typing hands to work! Search local promoters in your area, search places in your reach, and meet people to network! Important note: before sending any music to any publisher/promoter, ask them politely first if you can do so. You would want to avoid a pushy attitude!

2. Learn something new -- completely new!

You’ve been stuck with your kind of music.

Hold on, there’s nothing wrong with that! In fact, to know and master your specialties makes you distinguishable in the market. But how about those jazz guitar scales that you’ve always wanted to try to incorporate in your originals? Or how about getting into your own ethnic music and see if you can incorporate them in your own style?

You’ll find your style even more distinguishable in the crowd by expanding your knowledge!

3. Get social -- both virtually and in real life!

Have you been active in social media? Have you published all your works you have in store? Do you think you have sufficient people in your network?

Let’s face it: people in the music industry needs a lot of people. Well, you could try do it yourself, but if there is someone out there who enjoys the things you don’t -- let’s say, mixing or managing your band’s gigs -- then why not?

Collaboration is the key. But you’d need to reach people first. For people who just dwelled in the music industry, go to jam sessions or open mic. It’s a great way to know people and have fun the same time! Also, don’t forget to ask their contact details and social media network to

expand your network.

4. Do something other than music

It seems counter-intuitive, I know. But just like you would learn new things, it’s also healthy to do something out of the ordinary. How about learning to draw cartoon characters? Or rock climbing? Or travel to those countries in your wish list? Sometimes, you would get an inspiration just by being out of your comfort zone!
